Lee Holiday and the Time Off
Two years ago, Lee Holiday couldnt even walk to the microphone, let alone deliver one of the riveting R&B vocal performances she is known for. Struck by a rare nerve disorder in 2006, she was confined to a wheelchair and told by doctors that shed probably never walk again. The doctors obviously didnt know Lee.
Determined to perform again, Lee Holiday eventually got back on her feet and back in front of a microphone, where she now captivates audiences as leader of the R&B-flavored Lee Holiday and the Time Off. Along the way, she was joined by guitarist Chris Sheafor, who encouraged Lees first steps back to the stage, and drummer Andy Sheafor, Chris son and frequent musical collaborator. Completing the lineup was bassist Richard Cox and veteran local sax player and singer Chris ingham. Now Lee is singing like theres no tomorrow.
Launched in spring of 2011, Lee Holiday and the Time Off has been entertaining local audiences with its new retro rhythms, a blend of hook-heavy originals and stylish covers spanning classic R&B, Motown and jazz, to contemporary rock and blues hits all made memorable by Lees soulful and sassy vocals. Artists covered range from Etta James, Nina Simone and Van Morrison to Amos Lee, Ryan Adams and Melissa Etheridge. No one knows whats next for Lee Holiday and the Time Off. But as Lee herself as shown, anything is possible.
