The Symbols

All Ages | Saturday Night - 3:00pm to 3:45pm (Saturday) @ Lyric Cinema Cafe (Theatre)

Progressive rocking urban-pop

The Symbols are a trio from Fort Collins Colorado. They play their own songs that are a unique fashioning of rock with funk and other urban influences, with an overall pop melodic sensibility. They also occasionally rearrange other peoples' songs to a cool effect.

The Symbols have released 3 EP length CDs in the past 18 months, and are currently in the studio working on another one. You can also find a few of their independently produced music videos on their website. They write a monthly e-newsletter and a blog to keep fans informed of shows and band news.

Lead vocalist and bassist Mer Sal has a musical maturity beyond her youthful 22 years. Her fun onstage persona is backed by emotive vocals and solid grooves. Occasionally shell also play keys onstage and in the recording studio.

Jascos guitar sings with passion or screams with fury as he squeezes drops of soul from bent strings. In addition to rock-blues-funk stylings, Jascos musical depth is explored with subtle additions of flamenco, jazz, and classical textures.

Behind the drum kit, Ryan Sapp brings a wealth of musical experience to The Symbols, with years of touring and studio experience. Ryan lives for the groove and plays for the song.

The Symbols play across Colorado and Wyoming, and have toured to Kansas, Oklahoma, Nevada, Utah, and California in the past year. Look for The Symbols at a venue near you in the future.
